How to Choose the Right Aesthetic Clinic
The UK aesthetics industry is still only partly regulated, which means the quality of care between two clinics on the same street can be worlds apart. Choosing well is less about price or interiors and more about who is holding the needle, what they are injecting, and how they behave when the answer should be no.
Start with the practitioner, not the treatment
Before you compare prices, find out exactly who will treat you and what their clinical background is. Registered nurses, independent nurse prescribers, doctors and dentists carry statutory registration, ongoing training requirements and professional indemnity — a weekend certificate does not.

Ask what is actually being injected
A reputable clinic will name the exact product and brand, explain why it was chosen for your anatomy, and be able to show you the sealed packaging before it is opened. Vague answers — 'a filler', 'the same as Botox' — are a red flag.
Ask where the product is sourced from. Pharmacy-supplied, fully traceable products cost more, and that difference is usually why one clinic quotes half the price of another.
Judge the consultation, not the marketing
A good consultation is unhurried, medical, and occasionally disappointing. You should be asked about medical history, medication, allergies and previous treatment; you should be told about risks, downtime and what the treatment cannot fix.
The strongest signal of a safe clinic is a practitioner who declines. Being told you do not need a treatment, or that you should wait, is a mark of clinical integrity — not lost business.
Check complication planning and aftercare
Complications are rare but real. Ask directly: what happens if something goes wrong out of hours? Does the clinic stock hyaluronidase for filler dissolving? Is there a named person to contact?
You should leave with written aftercare, a review point, and a way to reach your practitioner directly — not a generic inbox.
Read results the way a clinician does
Look for before-and-after photographs taken in identical lighting, angle and expression. Filtered, heavily posed or wildly inconsistent images tell you nothing.
Look for consistency across many faces rather than one spectacular transformation, and for results that still look like the person — balanced, proportionate and unmistakably their own.
